PITTSBURG, KANSAS – Crawford County Mental Health Center (CCMHC) is proud to partner with the Pittsburg Police Department for the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, April 26, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Pittsburg Police Department, 201 N. Pine St., Pittsburg, Kansas.
This nationwide initiative provides a safe, convenient, and responsible way for community members to dispose of unwanted, unused, or expired prescription medications. At the last Take Back Day, the DEA collected a record-breaking 500 tons of medications nationwide. Locally, the Pittsburg Police Department has collected hundreds of pounds of medications in past events, helping prevent misuse and protecting the environment.
As part of our commitment to community well-being, CCMHC will have an informational table at the event with resources on substance use prevention, mental health support, and other available services. In addition, we will be distributing free gun locks and medication lock bags to help individuals and families safely store firearms and properly dispose of medications at home.
This service is free and anonymous. Community members are invited to drop off tablets, capsules, patches, and other solid forms of prescription medication. However, sharps, needles, injectors, and aerosol containers (inhalers) must be disposed of separately.
