PITTSBURG, Kan. – Crawford County Mental Health Center recently received a donation from Craw-Kan CARES, an employee-led charitable giving program focused on supporting local nonprofit organizations throughout the region.

The donation was part of a broader Craw-Kan CARES initiative focused on mental health and was intended to support Crawford County Mental Health Center’s overall mission of providing accessible mental health services to individuals and families across the community.

At Crawford County Mental Health Center, community support plays an important role in helping the organization continue meeting the needs of those it serves. As demand for mental health services continues to grow, partnerships with local organizations help strengthen the center’s ability to provide care, expand awareness, and support individuals at different points in their mental health journey.

“The support from Craw-Kan and its employees means a great deal to our agency and to the people we serve,” said Heather McCully, Executive Director at Crawford County Mental Health Center. “Initiatives from our community partners, like Craw-Kan CARES, helps us fulfill our mission to serve the mental health needs of our community. Improving mental health strengthens our overall community and support from community partners helps make that possible.”

Craw-Kan employees selected mental health as one of their quarterly giving themes because of its impact on individuals and communities across Southeast Kansas. Crawford County Mental Health Center was one of several organizations selected during that mental health-giving cycle.

Rather than being designated for a specific program or project, the donation will help support the organization’s ongoing work to provide vital mental health resources close to home.

Craw-Kan CARES was created in 2021 as a way to expand Craw-Kan’s long-standing tradition of giving back. The program is funded through voluntary payroll deductions, employee fundraising activities, and matching contributions from Craw-Kan’s Board of Directors. Since its creation, Craw-Kan CARES has generated more than $90,000 in donations to local nonprofit organizations.

“Craw-Kan is, by the very definition of being a cooperative, owned by those we serve,” said Zach Adams, Marketing Manager and CARES Committee Spokesperson. “Craw-Kan CARES gives our employees an opportunity to directly support the communities that support us. The generosity of our employees continues to inspire me. Since 2021, they have helped direct more than $90,000 to local nonprofit organizations through CARES, helping strengthen programs and services that make a real difference in the lives of our friends, neighbors, and fellow community members.”

For Crawford County Mental Health Center, the donation reflects the importance of local partnerships in supporting mental health care. The center serves individuals and families throughout the region through a wide range of services, regardless of their ability to pay.

Crawford County Mental Health Center thanks Craw-Kan CARES for its support and for its continued commitment to strengthening communities across Southeast Kansas.
