fACT, inc.
History
Created in August of 1991, Families and Children Together, Inc. (FACT, Inc.) exists to provides philanthropic support for mental health and substance abuse treatment in Crawford County, Kansas. FACT, Inc. is a registered 501c3 not for profit.
Mission Statement
To receive and maintain a fund or funds in order to create the development of a single, integrated, coordinated and collaborative effort to serve children and their families in Crawford County, Kansas and the Southeast Kansas area. The general purposes of the corporation are to operate solely and exclusively as a charitable, scientific, literary and educational corporation;
To further such objects and purposes, the corporation shall have and may exercise all the powers conferred by the laws of the State of Kansas upon corporations formed under laws pursuant to and under this corporation is formed, as such laws are now in effect or may at any time hereafter be amended. Specifically, this corporation shall have power to acquire, purchase, hold, lease, convey, mortgage, and pledge such real and personal property in Kansas, other states of the United States and elsewhere, as shall be necessary or convenient to the transaction of its business and realization of its objects and purposes.
FACT, Inc. Nature Preserve
The Nature Preserve has approximately 40 acres of undeveloped prairie grass, nature, and strip pits, where we are creating 2.5 miles of nature trails and developing a nature preserve that has feeding stations for wildlife, native prairie, catch-and-release fishing, butterfly gardens, waterways incorporating wetland plant species and wildlife, and various activities. Currently, the FACT, Inc. Nature Preserve is being utilized for mental health treatment for individual clients or psychosocial therapy groups Monday through Thursday to accommodate HIPPA and confidentiality regulations.
Benefits of the FACT, Inc Nature Preserve include positive physical and mental health, lowered risk of depression and anxiety, positive effects on mood and aspects of cognitive function, help with learning and behavioral disorders, and reducing antisocial and delinquent behavior in children.
