Pittsburg, Kansas — Thanks to a generous Basic Human Needs grant from the Community Foundation of Southeast Kansas (CFSEK), Crawford County Mental Health Center (CCMHC) is enhancing support services for individuals living with serious mental illness and co-occurring disorders across Southeast Kansas.

The grant supports CCMHC’s initiative titled “Starting with the Basics: Building Confidence and Improving Outcomes,” which provides practical assistance to clients enrolled in the Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) and Individual Placement and Support (IPS) programs.

These programs serve individuals who need a higher level of mental health care and who may face significant barriers to independent living and employment.

Through this funding, CCMHC is able to help clients with:

  • Obtaining essential documentation such as birth certificates, Social Security cards, and driver’s licenses
  • Access to work and interview clothing for job-seekers
  • Support developing basic life skills such as cooking, budgeting, and daily organization

The ACT and IPS programs are evidence-based services that support individuals in their recovery by providing wraparound assistance, from mental health care to job placement. These programs help clients reduce hospitalizations, maintain housing, and improve overall quality of life.

This initiative complements CCMHC’s broader efforts to increase access to mental health care across the region. CCMHC offers Same Day Access at 3101 N. Michigan in Pittsburg, Kansas, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., allowing individuals to walk in, complete an assessment, and begin services without waiting weeks for an appointment.

The Community Foundation of Southeast Kansas manages charitable funds established by donors who are passionate about giving back. Through its grants, CFSEK provides vital resources to organizations and individuals throughout the region.
