Medication services & M.A.T.

The purpose of Medication Services and medication management at Crawford County Mental Health Center is to prescribe, monitor, and oversee psychotropic medications for clients ages 5 and older. Our Medication Services staff treat various psychiatric conditions including depression, anxiety, bipolar, and schizophrenia. Treatment for attention deficit hyperactive disorder (ADHD) is also available with appropriate testing and verification of diagnosis.

Medication Management for A.C.T. and M.A.T.

In addition to the regular Medication Services that are offered to clients, staff provide medication management to other programs within Crawford County Mental Health Center, including the Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) program and the Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) program for alcohol and opioid addiction.

ACT is an evidence-based program that offers a complete range of treatment and support services for individuals that have been diagnosed with a serious mental illness and require a higher level of care.

MAT is a comprehensive program that is individually tailored to the needs of patients, utilizing medication in conjunction with therapy to treat addiction and substance use disorders. For more information on Medication Assisted Treatment, please read the MAT tab below.

Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT)

Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) is a comprehensive program, individually tailored to the needs of patients, and includes medication and behavioral therapy to treat substance use disorders. MAT has been shown to be more effective than medication or counseling alone for substance use treatment.

We believe that addiction is a behavioral and medical disease. While MAT can assist with the medial aspect of addiction, counseling services are geared toward addressing the lifestyle and behavioral components. Counseling helps teach coping skills and how to prevent or avoid relapse. Addiction counseling services can include comprehensive and personalized treatment plans, social detoxification, intermediate inpatient treatment, reintegration, intensive outpatient, outpatient services, case management, and peer support.

Clients partaking in Medication Assisted Treatment can expect to meet with a licensed counselor, nurse, and a prescriber who will determine the level of care needed and develop and specific, individualized treatment plan.

MAT referrals for new clients will be accessed through our Same Day Access Clinic, which operates Monday-Friday, 9:00-2:00 p.m. Referrals for existing clients will be through the client’s current clinician or counselor.
